Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock was an American painter, who led the force behind the abstract expressionist movement in the art world. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. Jackson Pollock's greatness lies in developing one of the most radical abstract styles in the history of modern art, detaching line from color, redefining the categories of drawing and painting, and finding new means to describe pictorial space.

His artworks were mostly of colors randomly placed or thrown. He didn't have a precise form or definition in his paintings. He and other abstract expressionist showed their concerns and emotions they they felt during world war 2.

During these conflicts and wars, Pollock introduced the method of drip paintings. drippings colors on a large canvas, expressing his inner feelings through his motions and colors. His work went on and he also introduced the drip and splash painting method.

His work and technique inspired me to look through what and how he has done his things.
Applying his technique, I tried to relate Batik along with colors in this module. Color is a vast topic, it is used in various places and is seen everywhere, and batik is an art that creates a design of its own. Thus, I wanted to do something that they can belong with each other.

These are few examples of what I have tried on. Basically I tried cornstarch and flour + water mixture for different samples. This is how it turned out and thus i finally decided on what I would be doing further.
